The United States added seven Iranian companies to its sanctions list on Tuesday. These companies produce drones that Russia uses against Ukraine, the US Department of Commerce stated.

A year after the situation in Ukraine, allies have begun supplying Kyiv with air defense systems to counter Iranian-made cruise missiles and kamikaze drones that Russian troops used against Ukrainian energy infrastructure this winter.

A little earlier this month, Canada announced that it intends to acquire for Ukraine a US-made short- and medium-range air defense system NASAMS, which protects against drone, missile, and aircraft attacks. The USA has already provided two such systems to Ukraine. It has been informed that new NASAMS will be delivered soon.

The UK, the US and the Netherlands have promised Kyiv other ground-based air defense systems, in particular, Patriot systems produced by Raytheon Technology Corp.

In the report of the US Department of Commerce, it was noted that Iranian drones are being given to Russia for use in Ukraine, which contradicts the interests of US national security and foreign policy.
