The European Court has removed from the list of cases the suit "Ararat Khandoyan v. Armenia," Lawyer Ara Karagyozyan told NEWS.am.

Ararat Khandoyan, who was arrested during the 2016 seizure of a police PPS regiment, filed a lawsuit with the ECHR against the decisions made in Armenian instances.

"If the government has concluded a conciliation agreement, it means that it recognizes that there was a violation. We also raised the issue of holding judges accountable, but unfortunately, we have seen Mnatsakan Martirosyan's position further elevated," Karagyozyan said.

According to him, Judge Martirosyan decided to leave the measure of restraint chosen for the latter unchanged without bringing the defendant to court.

The court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan's Kentron and Nork-Marash districts sentenced Ararat Khandoyan to 3.5 years in prison on June 27, 2017, for using violence against a police representative during the July 20, 2016 public unrest in Yerevan.
