French President Emmanuel Macron's statement that deliveries of fighter jets to Ukraine will not lead to an escalation of the conflict looks absurd, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, Komsomolskaya Pravda reported.

"This is some kind of absurdity, sorry. Paris' readiness to supply Kyiv with fighter jets was confirmed by the French defense minister. Is the French president really sure that if heavy weapons and planes are supplied to the Kyiv regime, it will not escalate the situation? I refuse to believe that an adult can have such logic," she said at the briefing.

Earlier, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu said that there were no taboos for France when it comes to supplying fighter jets to Ukraine.
