The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned ambassadors of nine countries, including those that have suspended their consulates due to the threat of terrorist attacks, reports TRT Haber.
After the U.S. warned about Turkey's security, some foreign missions closed their consulates.
According to Turkish media reports obtained from diplomatic sources, representatives of the embassies of the countries that closed their consulates were summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry is expected to respond to the meeting.
Earlier, a number of countries, including France, Germany, Italy and the United States, warned their citizens of an increased risk of attacks in Turkey, especially on diplomatic missions and non-Muslim places of worship. Germany, France and the Netherlands were among the countries that temporarily closed diplomatic missions for security reasons this week.
Turkey, for its part, warned its citizens of "possible Islamophobic, xenophobic and racist attacks" in the United States and Europe.
