A French resident won €17 million in the lottery after he made a mistake when choosing the date of an electronic ticket drawing. The French gambling regulator Francaise des jeux said in a report published Thursday that the mistake happened in January.

The participant, who played through the Internet, wanted to purposefully "try his luck on Friday 13th, but accidentally chose the wrong date and marked January 14.

Now the 40-year-old resident of France, who did not wish to reveal his identity, intends to quit his job, go into business, buy a house and travel. In addition, the winner plans to "stop buying meat from the supermarket and start buying it directly from the butcher."

In October 2021, a resident of French Polynesia won €220 million in the EuroMillions, the largest jackpot in the history of the game.
