The German ambassador to Turkey was among the other diplomats from various countries summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Thursday, German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Andrea Sasse told reporters.

"I can confirm that our ambassador alongside other colleagues from various countries was summoned for a conversation to the Turkish Foreign Ministry," Sasse said at a briefing on Friday.

The reason for the summons, she said, was the closure of the German consulate general in Istanbul due to terrorist attacks. She specified that other German diplomatic missions located in other Turkish cities were not affected by the measures.
