Head of the European diplomacy Josep Borrell said that the countries of the European Union (EU) had never considered sending their troops to Ukraine, Kommersant reported.

According to him, Ukraine should be helped in all possible ways that do not involve direct EU involvement in the conflict.

During an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Pais, Josep Borrell was asked whether it was necessary to send aircrafts to Ukraine. He replied that when helping Kiev, one should take into account the principle of non-hostility, which the EU follows.

When answering the question whether sending of fighters of the AFU is considered as participation in military actions, the Head of the European diplomacy said that this is a subjective assessment of the parties to the conflict. "So far, this issue is not on the agenda," Borrel said.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on Josep Borrell's interview in her Telegram channel. She wrote that the military of the European Union countries have long been sent to Ukraine as instructors, special services and mercenaries.
