Poland plans to begin construction of electronic barrier on the border with Russian Kaliningrad region in March 2023, Polskie Radio reported referring to the statement of border service spokeswoman Anna Michalskaia.
According to her, the contractor is currently preparing the project, which will be submitted to the border guards for approval. The barrier will cover about 200 km of the land border. Michalska noted that it will consist of a system of sensors and cameras, due to which surveillance of the border will be uninterrupted without the need to stay on it.
"Through it, officers can view the border at the border guard headquarters. Alerts will be sent from detection systems, and the algorithms of these alerts will be designed so that the border guard can react only to actual attempts to cross the border by people, not animals," she explained.
