Sweden has conducted an emergency operation to deploy an American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system in the port of Gothenburg on the kingdom's west coast, the Aftonbladet newspaper reported.

The west coast with the port of Gothenburg is of strategic importance with all the traffic that goes there, so it is extremely important to be able to defend against an attack with this system, the publication quoted Swedish Armed Forces spokeswoman Teresa Fagerstedt as saying.

The operation, which was carried out by Swedish Army's anti-aircraft regiment Lv6 in Halmstad in the morning of February 6, is a test of how quickly and efficiently units can act in a critical situation.
