The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is disappointed with the decision of the Tbilisi City Court to leave former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in custody. This is stated in a message on the website of the ministry.

Ukrainian diplomats noted that the court did not take into account the conclusion of doctors about the severity of Saakashvili's illness.

"The Georgian authorities must immediately stop settling political scores with the Ukrainian citizen, guarantee respect for his rights and hand him over to Ukraine," the statement said.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that it would continue protecting the interests of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili.
