At least 1,250 people were killed and 2,054 injured in the earthquake that hit Syria on February 6. This was reported by Al Ekhbariya TV channel on Wednesday, citing the Minister of Health of the Arab Republic Hassan al-Gabash.

According to him, the number of victims is not final. Earlier the Health Ministry head informed that 2,050 people were injured.

In turn, Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday that the number of deaths in the territories outside of Damascus control had risen to 1,280. It is assumed that this figure may increase significantly, as hundreds of people still remain under the rubble.

On Tuesday, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) issued a statement saying that more than 1.5 thousand people were killed and more than 3.5 thousand wounded in Syria as a result of the earthquake.
