The Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology in Taiwan has conducted a test launch of a cruise missile that can fly up to 1,200 kilometers. Thus this long-range projectile can reach cities in eastern China, the South China Morning Post newspaper reports.

The China Morning Post reports that the tested ground-to-ground missile is an improved version of the Hsiung Feng IIE missile with an extended range. The newspaper notes that it is capable of reaching major cities on the mainland, such as Qingdao on China's east coast or Wuhan in the center of the country.
