Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani believes that the situation in Ukraine is a consequence of American policies, RIA Novosti reported.
"The events in Ukraine are a consequence of the U.S. actions that have made the Ukrainian people a victim of its goals," he said at the opening of a meeting on Afghanistan of the secretaries of the Security Councils in Moscow.
Security Council secretaries for Afghanistan met in Moscow on Wednesday, with representatives from China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Russia is represented at the meeting by Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
