Speaker of the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA), Alen Simonyan, on Friday received Kimmo Kiljunen (Finland) and Boriana Aberg (Sweden), Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe PACE co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of obligations and commitments by Armenia.

Welcoming the guests, the RA NA President highlighted their visit that is aimed at getting acquainted with the situations created because of illegal blocking of the Lachin corridor. He underlined the necessity of visiting Armenia’s border regions and meeting with the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) who have taken asylum.

“We highly appreciate the work and the involvement of the Assembly and you, as co-rapporteurs. I am aware that from the very first days of Lachin corridor blockade you made a statement,” said the speaker of the Armenian parliament, evaluating the report titled on the humanitarian consequences of the blockade of Lachin corridor being prepared by the PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons.

At the ensuing meeting, details were presented on the ongoing Azerbaijani blockage of the Lachin corridor and its consequences.
