Iran Atomic Energy Organization spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi on Sunday denied uranium enrichment above 60% in the country, IRNA reported.

As Bloomberg reported, inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) concluded that Iran had managed to enrich uranium to 84%. Commenting on such allegations, Kamalvandi lamented the agency's abuse as a political tool to put pressure on Iran.

The material published in Bloomberg was made to defame and distort the facts, he noted.

The presence of uranium particles above 60% in the enrichment process does not mean enrichment above 60%, he said. This issue is very natural in the enrichment process, which can occur even if the centrifuge cascade feed is reduced at the same time. But the end product is important, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has so far not attempted to enrich uranium above 60%.

The representative of the AEOI said that raising such issues in the media showed once again that unfortunately the IAEA has distanced itself from its professional and neutral position, and provides technical information to the Western media.
