Spain's government plans to collect about 6 billion euros from a profit tax on large energy companies and banks after amendments to Congress, Spanish Budget Minister Maria Jesús Montero said, Reuters reported.

The expected revenues will be 1.7 billion from the energy tax and 1.3 billion from the tax on banks, totaling 3 billion euros a year, Montero said.

Spain approved a temporary tax on large energy companies and banks that originally was expected to raise 7 billion euros by 2024 to fund measures to reduce cost-of-living pressures.
