The U.S. Defense Department plans to modernize two Romanian air bases - the Mihail Kogalniceanu Airport and the Câmpia Turzii base, according to the Pentagon's tender documents.

One of the tasks for the contractor is the construction of the apron for the loading of ammunition and explosives.

In addition, the winners of the tender will have to build taxiways for aircraft, to conduct engineering communications, lighting and landscaping.

Earlier it was reported that the Pentagon decided to keep 4 thousand U.S. soldiers in Romania for another nine months.

It is assumed that within two months there will be rotation of the personnel of the American brigade.

The American forces in Romania are deployed at the Mihail Kogalniceanu airbase in the east of Romania, less than 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Staff officers and a major general from the 10th Mountain Infantry Division of the U.S. Army will be sent to reinforce the American forces in Romania.
