The members of the Estonia-Armenia Parliamentary Group of the Riigikogu, the Estonian parliament, are deeply concerned about the continuation of the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, in formed the National Assembly of Armenia.

“The corridor is an important supply route for local residents of the area. Due to frequent power outages and lack of electricity and gas, the humanitarian crisis in the region is worsening every day. People also lack vital things: medicine and medical care, food and fuel,” the parliamentary group notes in a joint statement.

The members of the Group in their statement called on the relevant parties to return to the negotiating table to help ensure the stability and development of the region.

“The blockade continues to have a detrimental effect on the ongoing peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We strongly believe that it is very important to resolve humanitarian issues and ensure freedom of movement and security in the corridor in order to make progress,” the Group members stated.

The statement was signed by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group Raivo Tamm and members Mati Raidma, Mihhail Lotman, Tarmo Kruusimae, and Leo Kunnas.
