A minute's silence was observed in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia to honor the memory of the casualties of the March 1, 2008 tragedy.

At the beginning of Wednesday’s session, NA speaker Alen Simonyan proposed to honor the memory of the aforesaid victims with a minute of silence.

On the evening of March 1, 2008, the Armed Forces and police units had carried out special operations—using weapons, explosive devices, and special means—to disperse the protesters in the downtown streets of capital Yerevan. As a result, hundreds of people were injured, and 8 civilians and 2 policemen died.
