President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced during his speech in the parliament that the general elections in Turkey are scheduled for May 14.

"On May 14, our nation will do what is required," Erdogan said.

It was mentioned that the parliamentary elections will also take place on that day.

In mid-February, information appeared in the Turkish mass media about the possibility of postponement of the presidential and parliamentary elections due to the devastating earthquakes in Turkey, as a result of which more than 45,000 people died. The Turkish authorities were considering postponing the elections for at least half a year, and in the worst-case scenario—for a whole year.
