US Department of State spokesperson Ned Price stated on Tuesday that the US is closely following the development of events in Georgia.

These words were said after the Georgian police used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators in the center of capital Tbilisi, who are against the bill on "foreign agents" which was passed by the country's parliament, VOA reported.

Price emphasized that peaceful protesters should be allowed to exercise their rights.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili expressed her support to the protesters and promised to veto the law on "foreign agents" if the country's parliament passed it.
