The draft law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence" has been officially withdrawn in Georgia.

The bill did not pass in the second reading in the country’s parliament, First Channel television reported.

A total of 112 MPs were registered.

A total off 35 lawmakers did not support this bill in the second reading, and only one MP voted for it.

On Thursday, the parliamentary majority had decided to withdraw this bill.

According to the legislation of Georgia, for the official withdrawal of a bill, it is necessary to table a bill that was passed in the first reading, in the plenary session, and put to the vote in the second reading.

As for the second bill which was not put to the vote in the first reading, as Georgian parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated at the bureau meeting, its initiators have already withdrawn it.

"We inform the initiators about the petition to withdraw the bill, which refers to the translation of the so-called American FARA (Foreign Agents Registration Act), and it has been withdrawn," Papuashvili said.
