In the conditions of its illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, Azerbaijan continues to ignore all the calls of the international community, failing to fulfill the obligations it assumed under the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, as well as the binding decisions of the ECtHR and the UN International Court of Justice.

At Wednesday’s meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), Permanent Representative of Armenia to the CoE, Ambassador Arman Khachatryan, again raised the issue of the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan. In particular, it was noted as follows:

Azerbaijan undertakes new provocations, trying to divert the attention of the international community from the Lachin corridor issue.

Continuing the blockade of Lachin corridor, Azerbaijan launched a sabotage attack in Nagorno-Karabakh on March 5, as a result of which three officers of the Nagorno-Karabakh police were killed.

The actions of the Azerbaijani sabotage team cannot be described as anything other than terrorism.

Parallel to the actions aimed at creating a humanitarian disaster in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan continues to terrorize the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh with the ultimate goal of Armenian ethnic cleansing by creating inhumane conditions for living in their homeland.

Reaffirming Armenia's desire to achieve peace in the region, Armenia once again emphasizes the need for the immediate dispatch of an international fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor to prevent the unleashing of new aggression by Azerbaijan.
