Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, UNIAN reports.

Zelenskyy's respective decree, which was posted on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine, states that the sanctions against Assad will be in effect for ten years. These sanctions include blocking the Syrian president’s assets, if any, and prohibiting him from any trading activities.

Sanctions were imposed also on Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Mekdad.

There are 300 people on this sanctions list. Among them are three Syrians, Russians, and one Ukrainian from Crimea who also holds Russian citizenship.
