The opening of a square devoted to the Armenian Genocide was held Monday in Haifa, Israel.
The ceremony took place despite the pressure exerted by the Turkish embassy in Tel Aviv, reported the Armenian National Committee of Jerusalem.
The event was attended by Haifa Mayor Einat Kalisch-Rotem, members of the city council, Armenian Ambassador to Israel Arman Akopian, representatives of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, members of the Armenian community of Israel, as well as representatives of various communities of Haifa.
