Baku has announced its intention to continue the illegal settlement of the Azerbaijani-occupied territories of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Emin Huseynov, the special representative of the president of Azerbaijan, told reporters that they plan to resettle 34,500 Azerbaijani families in those areas—except the Shushi region—by the end of 2026, according to Azerbaijani media.

It is noteworthy that Huseynov said this in the Azerbaijani-occupied city of Shushi, where a "peace conference" is being held with the participation of foreign representatives. It is obvious that the latter’s participation encourages Azerbaijan to new "achievements."

But such a settlement of people is another violation by Azerbaijan of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. In point 7 of this document it is clearly written as follows: “Internally displaced persons and refugees shall return to the territory of Nagorno Karabakh and adjacent regions under the control of the Agency of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.”
