A delegation led by the speaker of the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA), Alen Simonyan, on Wednesday met with the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament of the United Kingdom (UK), Alicia Kearns, the NA informs.

At the meeting a talk was held on the possibility of beginning direct communication between the parliamentary profile committees, particularly, between the Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament and the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

During the meeting the imperative of sending an international mission to Nagorno-Karabakh and to the Lachin corridor, and ensuring unimpeded access there by the international humanitarian organizations was underscored.

Speaking about the security and peace of the region, at his UK colleague’s request, the RA NA speaker gave details about the humanitarian and other problems caused because of the Lachin corridor crisis. Reference was made also to the continued Azerbaijani military aggression against the territorial integrity of Armenia.

Alicia Kearns informed about her upcoming visit to the United States, noting that during her official meetings there she will be ready to discuss the abovementioned security issues.
