In the context of the actions by the US and the EU, a question arises regarding their sudden activeness in the process of normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated about this during Wednesday’s press briefing.

"Previously, first of all from the EU side, no one showed particular interest in Transcaucasian issues. Now, probably, the conjuncture has changed. Let's make a reference to the historical experience, which shows that peace resolutions imposed from outside, especially those that are proposed and pushed by an accelerated regimen, have never led to anything good. One should know the history of the region, the history of the [Nagorno-Karabakh] conflict, the history of the peoples; one must deeply sense and, most importantly, really be inclined towards a peaceful settlement. No less important is the sincere desire to achieve that goal," added the Russian MFA spox.
