A visiting delegation led by the speaker of the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA), Alen Simonyan, met with the spokesperson of the Scottish National Party in Parliament of the United Kingdom (UK), Drew Hendry.
At the meeting, reference was made to Armenia’s regional challenges, as well as the post-2020-war issues and its consequences, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the NA.
Regarding the Azerbaijani military aggression, the Armenian delegates briefed their UK colleagues on the consequences of the ongoing closure of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, and spoke about the necessity of the protection of rights of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians. In this context, the assistance of the international partners and their targeted statements were highlighted.
At the end of the meeting, it was noted that Armenia highlights decentralized collaboration with the UK.
“The cooperation replenishes the inter-state relations at the level of local self-government bodies, and in that context the experience of the United Kingdom is very important for us. In this regard, we ask you to observe the possibility of cooperation of the self-government entities of Armenia with Scotland,” Simonyan underscored.
