The head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizada, said that the June 16 statements of the press secretary of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Anne-Claire Legendre, distort reality and testify to France's biased attitude towards the current situation in the region, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reports.

Baku, as always, resorts to outright lies.

“We would like to remind the French side that Azerbaijan, in accordance with international norms and rules, has ensured the regulated, free and safe movement of hundreds of Armenian residents in both directions from the state border checkpoint in [Berdzor] Lachin. Despite these efforts, on June 15, as a result of the shelling of the border checkpoint from Armenia, our border guard was wounded,” Hajizada said.

"The statement emphasizes that Azerbaijan is determined to ensure peace, stability and development in the region, to normalize relations with Armenia based on respect for international legal principles such as territorial integrity and sovereignty," Azerbaijani media outlets say.
“Taking into account the foregoing, we call on the French side not to create any further conditions for attempts to hinder the process by manifesting such a position,” the statement of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry says.

Earlier, the French Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it expressed regret over the shelling of the plant in Yeraskh by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and repeated its call to lift the blockade of the Lachin corridor.

In recent days, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired at Armenian positions located near Yeraskh, as well as at a metallurgical plant under construction in the village with foreign investment. Two nationals of India were injured as a result of the attack.
