Armenian Foreign Minister meets with U.S. Secretary of State in Washington

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Washington on June 27. The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports. 

During the meeting, they discussed issues related to regional security and stability and touched upon the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The importance of ensuring the delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the basis of the 1975 Alma-Ata Declaration and map, the withdrawal of troops from the border, as well as the proper resolution of the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, were stressed, as an important factor for the establishment of lasting peace in the region. 

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the unblocking of transport communications in the region.

Ararat Mirzoyan presented the humanitarian crisis resulting from the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor. Minister Mirzoyan stressed the need for Azerbaijan to renounce bellicose rhetoric and the imperative of returning all Armenian prisoners of war.
