At Thursday's cabinet meeting, the Armenian government made a decision to hold a regular election of the capital Yerevan Council of Elders.

The last such election took place on September 23, 2018, the Council of Elders took office on October 10, 2018, and its term of office ends on October 10, 2023.

Under the Electoral Code of Armenia, regular elections of the Yerevan Council of Elders are held no earlier than 30, and no later than 20 days before the end of the powers of the serving Council of Elders.

Accordingly, the election Yerevan Council of Elders shall be slated for September 17—as the only Sunday in the aforesaid interval.
