The convoy of trucks to transport humanitarian relief from Armenia to Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) through the Lachin corridor continues to stay at the border area of Kornidzor, Syunik region.

Vardan Sargsyan, representative of the humanitarian crisis management working group in Nagorno-Karabakh, told reporters that they are waiting for a response from the Russian peacekeepers expected to continue the delivery of aid from Syunik to Nagorno Karabakh.

"We have turned to the Russian peacekeepers regarding the transportation of the aid. At the moment we do not have any answer, we are waiting for it," he said, clarifying that they had no answer from the Russian peacekeepers when the convoy left Yerevan on Wednesday.

In her turn, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Anna Zhamakochyan said that this batch of relief is naturally not enough, adding that some more will follow.

Armenia has sent 19 trucks loaded with 400 tons of essential food and goods to Kornidzor, Syunik region, from where it is planned to transfer the aid to the residents of Nagorno Karabakh with the help of Russian peacekeepers. Nagorno Karabakh has been in blockade by Azerbaijan for more than six months now.

Azerbaijan has called Armenia’s move of sending aid to the 120,000 residents of Nagorno Karabakh a “provocative action”.
