The Spanish Embassy in Russia has expressed its support for the statement of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Josep Borrell who had said that the EU is deeply concerned over the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, adding that Azerbaijan must guarantee safety and freedom of movement along the Lachin corridor.

"Spain supports the statement of Josep Borell on the humanitarian situation related to the blockade of Lachin. The authorities of Azerbaijan must ensure security and free movement in the corridor very quickly and prevent the escalation of the crisis," the statement read.

Josep Borrell had also said that the EU took note of the expressed readiness of the Azerbaijani authorities to also supply goods via the city of Aghdam. “This should not be seen as an alternative to the reopening of the Lachin corridor,” he had said.
