During the last week, the military and political situation in our region has considerably worsened, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.

"The reason is that Azerbaijan has been building up troops for days along the Nagorno-Karabakh line of contact and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. The rhetoric of anti-Armenian hatred has further intensified in the Azerbaijani press and propaganda platforms.

"The policy of [Azerbaijani] encroachment on the sovereign territory of Armenia continues. On September 1, the armed forces of Azerbaijan undertook another provocation against the sovereign territory of Armenia, in the Sotk [village] sector, as a result of which three servicemen of the Ministry of Defense [of Armenia] were killed. That provocation was preceded and followed by the dissemination of fake news by Azerbaijan about the violation of the ceasefire regime by the Armenian Armed Forces on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border," added the Armenian premier.
