
On October 2, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic, Mariano Vergara, met with Alen Simonyan, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including the plight of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians forcibly displaced by Azerbaijan.
Speaker Simonyan expressed his deep appreciation for Ambassador Vergara's contributions to Armenian-Argentine relations and his consistent support. He also thanked Argentine President Alberto Fernandez for addressing the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor and standing by the Armenian people during challenging times.
Ambassador Vergara shared his warm but heavy memories of Armenia and expressed solidarity with the Armenian people. He characterized Azerbaijan's policy toward Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians as a tragedy affecting all of civilized humanity. The ambassador emphasized the importance of examining these events at the international level and providing appropriate assessments. He called for concrete actions from the international community in addition to statements, stating that Armenia needs clear and decisive responses.
The meeting also touched upon the role of friendly groups in advancing inter-parliamentary relations.
