
Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has underlined that the 3+3 format is an effective mechanism to resolve regional issues without interference by extra-regional powers. Amir-Abdollahian made the remark in a meeting with visiting Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, in Tehran on Tuesday, IRNA reported.
The top Iranian diplomat said that Iran emphasizes the necessity of maintaining international borderlines and observing the territorial integrity of countries, adding that regional issues should be resolved by regional countries and without foreign intervention.
He further expressed satisfaction with the growing relationship between Iran and Armenia, hoping that the amount of mutual trade exchanges will reach $3 billion per annum, which requires a comprehensive and long-term cooperation agreement.
Also, the Iranian FM noted that Iran is ready to send humanitarian aid to Armenia for the refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Grigoryan, for his part, appreciated Iran’s stance towards the territorial integrity of Armenia, saying that Yerevan is determined to expand its ties with Tehran. Also, he noted that Armenia sees Iran’s role in the South Caucasus developments and the sustainable peace in the region as important and constructive.
