Monumentwatch.org, dedicated to monitoring Artsakh's cultural heritage, has reported on alleged actions by Azerbaijani soldiers in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh). According to the site, Azerbaijan militarized the entire territory of Artsakh as a result of military operations on 19-20 September 2023, and videos depicting various actions by Azerbaijani soldiers have emerged on Azerbaijani websites.

One video, in particular, dated October 4, 2023, purportedly shows Azerbaijani military personnel removing and relocating road signs leading to Bryeghtsi Monastery and Harav Village, possibly for destruction. Azerbaijani media has interpreted this action as the removal of "fake" place names associated with separatism.

The destruction of signs bearing indigenous place names in Artsakh has also been reported online, with Azerbaijani forces viewing these names as separatist and false. The removal and destruction of these signs have raised concerns about the preservation of the native Armenian identity in Artsakh.
