Azerbaijan has decided to procure additional Israeli-made Barak MX air defense systems from Israel—and within the framework of a deal worth $1.2 billion.

A few months ago, the Israel Aerospace Industries conducted a successful demonstration of the Barak MX systems in Azerbaijan, Haqqin.az reports, with reference to Defense Industry Europe.

Various Israeli-made air defense systems have been used by Azerbaijan for several years, but the latest demonstration was in an upgraded version.

The Barak MX is a modular air defense system designed to counter missile and aircraft threats. It operates both on offshore platforms and on land.
