The treaty on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is based on the fundamental provision that the EAEU is an economic union that should not have a political and, even more so, a geopolitical agenda. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at the extended-format session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council of the EAEU in Saint Petersburg, Russia.   

“We continue to perceive it as such and in this context develop cooperation within the framework of our economic cooperation, striving to prevent all attempts to politicize Eurasian integration. The EAEU and its economic principles should not be linked to political ambitions.

The fundamental freedoms of trade and integration cannot and should not be restricted for political reasons; this will definitely lead to the corrosion of the fundamental principles of the Union.

In this context, the Armenian side attaches importance to the signing of the declaration on the further development of economic processes until 2030 and 2045, which is based on the conceptual and priority directions of medium-term and long-term development of EAEU,” the Armenian PM added.
