A statue of renowned Armenian filmmaker Sergei Parajanov was unveiled Tuesday in Yerevan, in the area adjacent to the Cinema House—and within the framework of the opening of events on the 100th birth anniversary of Parajanov.

Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Armenia, and Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, also attended in the unveiling ceremony.

In his remarks, Arayik Harutyunyan noted, in particular, that the statue Sergei Parajanov will find its place in front of the Cinema House building.

And Zhanna Andreasyan, in her turn, informed that their proposal was sent to Yerevan city hall, with which it is suggested that the square across where the statue of Parajanov will be placed be named The Color of Pomegranates Square in honor of Sergei Parajanov’s renowned film entitled “The Color of Pomegranates.”
