I consider the discussions about changing the constitution to be solely an internal matter of Armenia. Gevorg Papoyan, an MP of the ruling majority Civil Contract (CC) Faction, stated this during Wednesday’s press briefings at the National Assembly of Armenia—and addressing the question of whether the Armenian constitution will be changed at the demand of Azerbaijan.

"It is absolutely up to the citizens of Armenia to decide, it is up to the constituent of Armenia to decide. Let's not bring our internal matters to what they [i.e. Azerbaijan] [demanded]. With that, we are now giving them the opportunity to try to rule us. It cannot and should not be like that,” Papoyan said, then added that there is no need to be afraid of this process.

"There will be a bad constitution, our constituent will not choose [it]; it will be a good one—it will choose [it]; we decide," noted the MP from the Armenian ruling force.

Also, Papoyan ruled out possible vote rigging within the framework of the process of changing the Armenian constitution.
