More than 250 people were detained in Russian cities during the day at the rallies in memory of oppositionist Alexei Navalny. This was told on the air of “Nastoyashcheye Vremya” by Dmitry Anisimov of the project "OVD-Info".

"Most of all detained in St. Petersburg: about 130 people. Yesterday, there were particularly harsh detentions. Lawyers were not allowed into some police stations for a long time. In addition, police in St. Petersburg use batons and stun guns, although the detainees do not resist," Anisimov added.

He noted that people are mostly accused of disobeying the lawful demands of police officers. It is also known about at least one person on whom a protocol was drawn up under the article on "discrediting" the Russian army.

At the moment, detentions are known about in 21 Russian cities. In addition to St. Petersburg, people were detained in mass in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod.
