The U.S. State Department responded to a request from the Voice of America Armenian Service regarding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements on Armenia's membership in the CSTO and steps taken by Yerevan in the defence sector.

"We respect Armenia's aspirations as an independent country to continue its chosen security relationship, and we support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the region," the U.S. State Department said.

The US foreign ministry also commented on the problems between Yerevan and Moscow.

"Russia is not a reliable and bona fide ally or partner in the South Caucasus or anywhere else. We have seen repeatedly that Russia is not concerned about Armenia's interests," the US State Department said.
