Border troops of the RA National Security Service have taken some parts of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border under protection from the units of the RA Ministry of Defence since December 2020. The RA National Security Service reports.

In order to more effectively organise the protection of the newly formed object, border guards meeting modern requirements were built in a very short period of time at the expense of funds allocated by the RA Government.

The Director of RA National Security Service, Armen Abazyan, visited the "N" detachment of RA Border Troops and took part in the opening ceremony of the newly built 5 border outposts and officers' quarters attached to them.

Deputy Director of the RA National Security Service and high-ranking officials attended the event.

Armen Abazyan noted in his speech that seasonal processes show that the tension on the border has actually increased.

If we add to that, the whole spectrum of border risks - from drugs to terrorist transport, from illegal migration to smuggling, rearmament and modernisation of border troops become a necessity.

The border outposts of Syunik, Chakaten, Yeghvard, Kaghnut, and David Bek are fully equipped with modern equipment, weapons and necessary accessories. The units of the border troops have been equipped with various types of modern equipment, 18 border posts have been set up, and trenches, firing points, and observation points have been built.

The NSS Director toured the military unit and familiarised himself with the conditions.
