The facts you presented cannot be justified. It is hard for us to imagine all this because I am from a country where it is impossible to imagine such a violation of human rights and forced displacement of any ethnic group. For that reason, we wonder why the conflicting parties in this region are not interested in achieving peace for the benefit of the people’s welfare. Elisabeth Winkelmeier-Becker, Chairwoman of the Committee on Legal Affairs of the German Bundestag, the parliament, stated this during a press conference at the German embassy in Armenia on Tuesday—and answering a reporter's question as to what else Azerbaijan should do, in addition to the forced deportation of Nagorno-Karabakh’s Armenian residents in 2023, their blockade in the months preceding it, and the torture of the displacing Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians by the Azerbaijanis, in order for the Western countries to decide to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan.

"I believe that at this phase of these peace processes, we should be able to act as an honest partner and supporting party as much as possible. I believe it is in Armenia's interest that we can contribute to the resolution of the peace process with this function of ours," the German lawmaker added.
