TBILISI. – Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan will visit Georgia in the near future, Georgian FM Grigol Vashadze said on Rustavi-2 TV channel on Tuesday after his visit to Yerevan.

Vashadze met with the Armenian President and FM Edward Nalbandian on Monday, Novosti-Georgia reports.

“It was decided that Armenian President will visit Georgia in the near future. Regarding the visit of my Armenian counterpart, we discussed many agreements, which need to be ratified,” Vashadze stated and added that they discussed issues on bilateral cooperation with the President.

In his turn, Sargsyan in the meeting with Vashadze said that relations between Georgia and Armenia are getting deeper, which has its historic justification.

“Political high-level relations between the two states have a regular character. I am glad that intergovernmental commission will meet soon. I hope to see good results on various issues. I am glad to meet you before my official visit to Tbilisi,” Sargsyan said.

Earlier press informed that the planned visit of the Armenian President at the beginning of November is cancelled due to Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili’s statement that Armenians have not responded operatively to the landslide on the Armenian-Georgian border.

Georgian Deputy FM Nino Kalandadze said on Monday that Sargsyan will visit Georgia as soon as the sides fix date.
