The Minister for Armed Forces of the United Kingdom (UK), James Heappey, responded to British MPs’ question about potential benefits for the UK defense industry if Armenia exits the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

In his response, Heappey stated that the UK recognizes the decision on freezing membership in the CSTO as the “realization of Armenia's sovereign right and will cooperate with Euro—Atlantic allies to support it in the face of threats of retaliation from Russia.”

At the same time, he noted that the "freezing" of Armenia's membership in the CSTO does not mean an official exit from the organization.

Heappey noted that any benefit should fit into the framework of the agreed restrictions on the OSCE arms embargo, which was signed by the UK.

At the same time, he stressed that London will continue to work closely with Armenia "in search of opportunities to deepen cooperation."
