Russia is ready to help Armenia in the restoration of flood affected areas. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this during Thursday’s weekly press briefing—and answering the question whether Armenia has respond to the aid offer by Russia.

"We [i.e. Russia] have seen a positive response, and we repeat that all proposals are relevant... And as allies, we are always ready to lend a hand based on the needs of Yerevan," said Zakharova, reminding that the Russian-Armenian Center for Humanitarian Response immediately joined the relief efforts and transferred the necessary equipment to the Armenian authorities.

She recalled that the Russian Ministry of Defense also expressed its readiness to help, with the forces and resources of its 102nd Military Base in Gyumri, Armenia.

A number of Russian companies operating in Armenia—in particular, the South Caucasus Railway company which serves the Yerevan-Tbilisi route—are also discussing the matter of providing assistance.

"These days it is actively engaged in restarting railway transport. Specialists of various profiles were sent to the location. Together with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, they are looking for solutions to complex problems.

Once again, we extend our condolences to the families and friends of those who died as a result of the raging [natural] disaster, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery. We will also provide all the necessary assistance to restore normal life in flood-affected areas," said the Russian MFA spox.
