YEREVAN. - Two Nagorno-Karabakh defense forces soldiers killed by the Azerbaijanis became victims of Azerbaijan’s “rat” policy. Military expert Artsrun Hovhannisyan informed Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on the murder of two Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijani snipers on November 19-20.

“What Azerbaijan does today-is a way to maintain tension on the contact line,” the interlocutor said.

He added that Azerbaijan has several reasons for doing that. The first reason according to the expert is that Azerbaijan wants to capture its population’s attention on the events on the contact line.

Artsrun Hovhannisyan does not agree with the opinion that Azerbaijan leads a sniper war.

“A sniper war is out of the question for the simple reason that Azerbaijan does not have any professional snipers,” the military expert mentioned.

Commenting on the statement of Armenia’s Minister of Defense saying that response steps for the death of each Armenian soldier will be disproportionate Artsrun Hovhannisyan mentioned that that approach was used before the statement too.

“Murders like that one must not be left unanswered,” Russian political scientist, expert at the Institute of CIS countries Mikhail Alexandrov mentioned on his turn during an interview with the reporter of Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He said that disproportionate actions are answer steps for Azerbaijan’s policy as it is a massive artillery strike on Azerbaijan’s positions.

According to political scientist Karen Bekaryan’s opinion all the sniper deaths from both sides lay on the conscience of Azerbaijan’s president. According to him those are the fruits of the Azerbaijani president’s militaristic rhetoric.
